The Fair Stone Standard was approved in November 2007 at the first conference of the advisory board.
The standard is based on rules and standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) as well as the local law. Goods labeled by Fair Stone are free from exploitive child labour and forced labour. Furthermore, enterprises are engaged with measures of improvement in the field of labour security and health of their employees.
Therefore the Fair Stone standard takes into
consideration environmental, economic and social aspects to provide a
sustainable improvement of the working conditions of the
employees in the natural stone quarries and factories. The improvements
are monitored by local inspectors and by an external project team. The
implementation may be identified via documentatin and the tracking
system Tracing Fair
Stone.
